Video Missions Ministry
It is our desire to use our video talents for the Lord's work. And so we are offering our services to Missionaries who may need help with Missions videos, and cannot afford the regular prices charged in the industry. We offer our services as a ministry, and will accept donations. But we will not charge you.
If you are a missionary or know of a missionary that could use a new video, here is how we can help. We will take any pictures/ videos/ music you have that you would like to use in the video, and we can arrange it all into a cohesive video that tells about your work. These videos usually are about 5 minutes long, and are used to show to supporting churches how the work is going. Here is what we need to get started.
- Your pictures/videos/music sent in via cd/dvd- A script of what you want to say, and what you want to show
- Details about your ministry such as years on field, field address, family names, etc
Then we work with you to refine the script. This is many times the most under-developed aspect of mission videos, but contains the most relevant information. Here are some tips on making better missions videos. I hope these are a blessing to you!
- Plan your beginning (1-2 minutes), middle (2-3 minutes) and end ( 1-2 minutes). Write out everything you want to say, then go back and combine, subtract, add, rewrite. Have us, and people involved in your ministry read your script or plan before starting. Record the narration, excited about what you have to share with all your supporters for what God is doing.- Start with short introduction to you and the people you are reaching. Be concise, but try to incorporate something unique about yourself or your people. This helps establish that you are a real person. :-) One or two sentences about why/how you were called to this place is good.
- Statistics are most useful visually. This can be done with a graph, picture, etc.
- NEVER use a musical background track that includes singing while narrating. This is very common. It is very distracting to try to listen to narration while the familiar words of "the Old Rugged Cross" are filtering through. Always use instrumental music while narrating.
- One or two short stories about how God has worked/provided recently are good. Make sure they have accompanying video or pictures (recent salvations, fixing the car, opening up a new village/ministry, etc).
- It is useful to show on a map where you are. And then on a more detailed map, where you live compared to your church, outreaches, closest town, etc.
- Personal video interviews with people affected by your ministry are great! Clips from them, and audio can be smoothly incorporated into the video.
- End with some concise tangible result(s) from the work that people can remember (i.e. souls saved/baptized, church growth, personal growth, goals accomplished, buildings, etc). Thank your supporters and make sure that they know that they are a crucial part of what is happening. Give a call to action, "Help support us by....", "Let's carry out the Great Commision together by....". Also a good time to state any immediate needs or goals that need finances or prayer. But at the very end, praise the Lord thankfully.
